Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Canberra
ACT for ACT’s sake
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy – A HAND to learn ACT (DNA-v model)
Overview: This 40-minute video offers an introduction to the DNA-v developmental model of ACT co-created by Louise Hayes and Joseph Ciarrochi. After introducing the DNA-v model, some Discover Advisor and Noticer skills are presented.
Educational Objectives:
1. Introduce the DNA-v developmental model of ACT
2. Demonstrate some basic Discover Advisor and Noticer skills

Learning RFT (Relational Frame Theory) – ACT is the car, RFT is the engine!
Overview: The video is just over an hour long, and I hope it is a fun way of helping ACT folks take their first few steps into learning some more RFT. The material is based heavily on the Learning RFT book by Niklas Törneke. Most of my work is with young people, so the examples are focused on them, and are underpinned by the DNA-v model by Louise Hayes and Joseph Ciarrochi.
Educational Objectives:
1. Introduce RFT
2. Connect RFT to clinical work with young people

RFT is in our DNA – stuff clinicians want to know (Relational Frame Theory and DNA-v ACT model)
Overview: This workshop will cover the stuff clinicians want to know about Relational Frame Theory (RFT) when working with clients.
We will highlight how recent developments in RFT (HDML/ROE) are in a relation of ‘awesomeness’ with the DNA-v developmental model of ACT.
Developments in RFT, namely the process of Relating, Orienting, and Evoking (ROE) will be introduced experientially (through metaphors, a poem, and even a song!).
The workshop will then use a case example of a young person with OCD, with case conceptualisation from both the DNA-v model and the ROE as the unit of analysis.
Educational Objectives:
1. Explain how using DNA-v and RFT (HDML/ROE) together supports clinical work that is both flexible and precise.
2. Describe the process of Relating, Orienting, and Evoking (ROE).
3. Apply RFT (HDML/ROE) when conducting a functional analysis in clinical work.

Where’s my Hoverboard? Taking cutting-edge Relational Frame Theory (RFT) for a ‘ROEM’ around the skatepark of human language and cognition.
Overview: This workshop will hold your hand as you step off your old skateboard (using classic A-B-C’s to understand behaviour) and onto your newly developed Hoverboard (using Relational Frame Theory (RFT) to understand human behaviour, including human language and cognition). The focus will be on the stuff clinicians want to know about when working with clients. We will highlight some recent developments in RFT (HDML/ROE-m). Ultimately, this workshop aims to serve as a fun and easy introduction to RFT as presented in Harte, C. & Barnes-Holmes, D. (2021).
Educational Objectives:
1. Explain how Relational Frame Theory (RFT) can be conceptualised within a classic A-B-C framework.
2. Describe the process of Relating, Orienting, and Evoking (ROE).
3. Apply RFT (HDML/ROE) when conducting a functional analysis in clinical work.
